The Rev. Janet Gear is Professor of Public and Pastoral Leadership and the Director of Denominational Formation (United Church of Canada) at the Vancouver School of Theology. Janet is also an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada and she preaches, teaches and leads retreats within the British Columbia Conference. Deeply influenced by the work of Dorothee Solle, a German liberation theologian who took direct political action regarding the Vietnam war, the Cold War and the injustices in the developing world, Janet’s focus is often on the living practice of one’s faith and how we show up in the world.
